What is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is designed to reshape the thighs, eliminating excess skin and fat for a smoother, more proportionate lower body contour for those whose diet and exercise could not reduce stubborn pockets of fat or sagging skin.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Thigh Lift?

Candidates for a thigh lift experience excess skin and tissue or pockets of stubborn fat in the inner thigh area due to age, dramatic weight loss, or other factors. A thigh lift is not an alternative to weight loss efforts, so patients must be in good health and within a healthy weight range to ensure successful results.

Thigh lifts are not intended to strictly remove excess fat; patients who are solely seeking excess fat removal should inquire about liposuction.

Customize your Thigh Lift Procedure

Thigh lift incision patterns will vary depending on where your excess tissue is located. Excess tissue can then be lifted, and excess skin is removed to tighten the thighs. Varying thigh lift techniques include:

CUSTOMIZATION

  • Inner Thigh Lift

An inner thigh lift, or medial thigh lift, addresses lax skin in the inner thighs through an incision from the groin to the knee.

  • Outer Thigh Lift

An outer thigh lift, or bilateral thigh lift, lifts lax skin on the outer thighs with an incision extending from the groin, around the hip, and across the back.

  • Thigh Lift with Liposuction

In cases where the thigh area has excess fat, liposuction may be performed in addition to thigh lift surgery. This is to help remove excess fat cells and prevent lax, sagging skin.

Thigh Lift Results

Patients will see an immediate improvement in thigh contour, however, final results will continue to improve as swelling decreases for 6 months. Regular thigh lift maintenance includes adopting healthy lifestyle choices such as a good diet and routine exercise.

Recovering from a Thigh Lift

After a thigh lift procedure, expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort that can be managed with prescription medication in the days following. Tubes and compression garments may be used for 6 weeks to ensure proper healing and drainage. A week of rest is required, and patients should continue to avoid rigorous activity for another four to six weeks.

Dr. Kayastha will cover the thigh lift procedure process in more detail during your consultation.
