What is a Lower Body Lift and What Does it Include?

Have you noticed that you have excess loose skin of your abdomen, lateral thighs or buttocks? Most commonly when you lose a significant amount of weight for whatever reason these areas can sag. If you are bothered by this excess skin and are looking for a long-term solution a lower body lift may be the answer.

What is a Lower Body Lift?

A lower body lift or belt lipectomy is a combination of surgical procedures that remove excess skin and fat from all the way around your waist. The main goal of a lower body lift is to create a firmer, more toned appearance in the lower body, including the abdomen, lateral thighs and buttocks.

Who Can Benefit from a Lower Body Lift?

If you are considering a lower body lift, it is important to speak with your plastic surgeon to determine if you are a good candidate. If you are living with lax skin along your waistline and buttocks, have maintained a healthy, stable weight, are not a smoker, and do not have any medical conditions that may complicate your recovery, you may be an ideal candidate. Please contact K Plastic Surgery today to see if this procedure is right for you.

Procedures Included

A lower body lift can consist of a number of procedures, depending on your individual aesthetic goals. These may include a tummy tuck, a butt lift, a lateral thigh lift, and/or liposuction. Dr. Kayastha will customize your lower body lift procedure depending on your concerns and goals.

What to Expect During Surgery

Prior to your procedure, Dr. Kayastha will make markings that estimate how much skin and fat he will be able to remove in the operating room. You will then receive general anesthesia, which will put you to sleep for your procedure. Excess skin and fat will then be removed, while muscles are tightened and tissue repositioned and lifted for a smooth, toned appearance. Incisions are closed using sutures and drains may be placed. The length of your lower body lift incisions may vary depending on exactly what you need.

Lower Body Lift Aftercare

Following your procedure, you can expect to experience some mild discomfort, swelling, and bruising. Dr. Kayastha may prescribe you prescription pain medication to help ensure you are comfortable while you heal. Recovery generally lasts for 2-4 weeks.

Once you are fully healed you can enjoy a slimmer, more toned abdomen, lateral thighs, and buttocks! In order to maintain your results, be sure to commit to a healthy lifestyle that involves regular exercise and a healthy diet.
