What is Breast Augmentation & Lift?

Breast augmentation with lift combines implants with a breast lift procedure to enhance the size, shape, contour, and position of the breasts. Although breast augmentation is a great way to enhance the size and projection of the breasts, it can’t fully reduce sagging skin or lift the breasts and nipples higher on the chest wall. Conversely, the breast lift can rejuvenate the breasts to a more upright position, but it can’t restore lost volume or increase their size. Together, however, breast augmentation and breast lift can achieve a more youthful, feminine figure.

Who is a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation & Lift?

Women often opt for breast augmentation with lift to restore the breasts affected by volume loss and sagging due to age or pregnancy. This is because implants can add volume or replace lost volume.

Ideal candidates for breast augmentation and lift in Albany, NY are women who want to increase their breast size and re-position their breasts at the same time. Candidates should be in good health – and be done breastfeeding and having children. This is because changes to your breasts following pregnancy  can result in needing another procedure for best results.

If you’re happy with the size of your breasts when wearing a bra, you may be a candidate for a lift alone. However, if you would like them to be larger, implants are required.

Customize Your Breast Augmentation & Lift

Because this surgery combines two different breast procedures, it’s one of the most customizable options available. It can be tailored depending on your unique concerns and goals. This includes choosing the material, shape, and size of the implants. During your consultation with Dr. Kayastha, you’ll select the type of breast implant that’s best for your goals, as well as incision patterns and placement options.

Breast Augmentation & Lift

Customization

  • Implant Type

All implants are created with a medical-grade silicone shell but come with a different filling. Saline and silicone implants remain the two most popular options for breast augmentation. Saline implants can be placed through a much smaller incision and filled with saline after they’re in place. Silicone implants come in two varieties – silicone gel and form stable silicone (or gummy bear implants). Silicone implants are among the most popular and natural-feeling implants.

  • Implant Size, Shape, and Texture

Once you select the type of implant you want, you’ll then choose from a variety of other customizable options like your implant’s size (in CCs), shape (round or anatomical), and texture (smooth or textured). Each comes with benefits – for example, anatomical implants are teardrop-shaped and can achieve a more naturally-full look in the upper breast pole. Textured implants can also prevent rotating within the breast tissue pocket and achieve a firmer feel. Dr. Kayastha will discuss which combination works best for your goals.

  • Incision Pattern

There are a variety of incision patterns that can be used during your procedure depending on what you need. Dr. Kayastha will take steps to help your incisions heal well and be easily concealed within clothing. He can also recommend the right scar treatments for your recovery to insure that your incisions heal as well as possible.

  • Implant Placement

During breast augmentation, a pocket is created in the breast tissue for the implant. However, there are two options for placement. The first is on top of the chest muscle (which usually produces more projection with less discomfort during recovery) and underneath the chest muscle (which usually produces more subtle results and a natural feel). You’ll discuss the right one for your goals with Dr. Kayastha.

Breast Augmentation & Lift Results

You’ll see noticeable results after your surgery, but it can take a few months for swelling to subside and for the implants to settle into their final position. Most patients note that their breasts begin to look and feel natural at around 6 weeks after. Because breast augmentation with lift is the most transformative breast surgery available, you’ll enjoy fuller, perkier, more youthful breasts after your full recovery.

Recovering from Breast Augmentation & Lift

When you wake up from your surgery, you’ll be fitted with a specialized surgical bra. Make sure to wear this as much as possible during your initial recovery. It’s normal to have some soreness and discomfort, and our team will make sure you have pain medications for your recovery. Swelling will be at its worst for the first 1-2 weeks before beginning to subside. You should plan to take 1-2 weeks away from work and social activities to rest and recover. Dr. Kayastha will make sure you know when it’s safe to return to your regular workout regimen.

After an initial one to two week recovery, you can begin returning to light activities and work. You’ll begin to feel ready to return to your normal level of activity within four to six weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I breastfeed after breast augmentation with lift?

Implants do not prevent you from breastfeeding. However, certain incision patterns may impact your nipple sensitivity and therefore can cause difficulties. If you have future plans to breastfeed, make sure to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.

How long does breast lift with implants last?

A breast lift with implants can still be subject to weight fluctuations which can cause the breasts to sag. Make sure to have healthy habits in place before considering breast surgery in order to get the most out of your results.

Whos a good candidate for breast augmentation with lift?

You can benefit from a breast augmentation with lift if you want to achieve perkier, more youthful breasts while also restoring lost volume. If you dont want larger breasts, then a breast lift alone can be an effective option.

Can a breast lift with implants achieve symmetrical breasts?

Breast implants are one way to create more symmetry if your breasts are noticeably asymmetrical. If you have one breast that is higher or lower than the other, a breast lift can also help.

Can I get a breast lift and breast augmentation at the same time?

Yes - This is one of the most beneficial procedures for women who want to address sagging while also adding volume and projection.

Will a breast lift without implants make breasts look smaller or larger?

A breast lift on its own generally doesnt change the size of the breasts. Rather, it can lift the breasts to a more upright position and get rid of sagging.

How painful is a breast lift and augmentation?

Your procedure will be performed under general anesthesia and youll be given pain-blocking medications afterward. As long as you follow your plastic surgeons directions, you can manage pain well enough to get the rest you need.

How long does it take for breast augmentation with lift incisions to heal?

It can take 1-2 weeks for your incisions to fully heal, but its normal to still have some residual swelling for a few months afterward.

When can I sleep on my back after breast lift and augmentation?

Its important to sleep in a reclined position on your back during your initial recovery. This relieves pressure off your incisions and implants.

Do you need implants with a breast lift?

No - some patients can benefit from a breast lift on its own. Each patient is unique and Dr. Kayastha can provide a personalized recommendation during your consultation.

How long does it take to recover from breast augmentation with breast lift?

You can expect to take 1-2 weeks away from work and social activities. You can begin to return to regular activities after this time, but it can take 1-2 months to return to your normal workout schedule.

How do you take care of a breast lift with implants?

Youll be given detailed recovery instructions by our team. The most important steps are wearing your surgical bra as much as possible and keeping your incisions clean and unbothered.

How long are you swollen after breast lift with augmentation?

Most swelling will subside within 1-2 weeks of your procedure. However, its normal to have some minor residual swelling that lasts for a few months afterward.

Should you get a breast lift with implants or just breast lift?

This is dependent on your goals. If you want to add more volume and projection, then implants can help. If you only want to lift your breasts to a more upright position without changing their size, a breast lift on its own is your best option.

What can you not do after breast lift and augmentation?

Youll be given a detailed list of instructions on how to recover from your breast lift with augmentation procedure. This includes instructions on sleeping, washing, changing dressings, managing drains, and physical activity levels.

Will I have a scar? What kind of scar will I have?

Any time the skin is cut to perform surgery there must be a scar. The length of your scar will depend on the type of surgery and how extensive it is. Dr. Kayastha is committed to using the shortest scars possible while still achieving the results you want. Dr. Kayastha takes great care to ensure that you will have the best scar possible. Surgery is performed precisely and gently. After surgery multiple techniques including taping, silicone sheeting, scar cream, massage and lasers may be used to optimize the appearance of your scar.
