Whitney M.

I was also thinking of going with a different place until I met Dr. Kayastha. Within 5 minutes of meeting him, I knew he was the one. He has an amazing bedside manner plus he was honest and straight forward from the beginning. He spent quite a bit of time with me explaining everything and didn’t send me to meet with his office staff to explain important details about the surgery like the other 2 places. I never felt like he was rushing with me to see another patient. My result were amazing and I would highly recommend Dr. Kayastha. Once you meet him, you won’t want to go anywhere else!!

Ann T.

Dr. Kayastha was very helpful since the beginning of the consultation, explaining every detail of the surgery all the way to the very last one, I would recommend anyone looking for his services and his staff are really nice and kind! Very happy will do all over again if needed.

What is Nipple Surgery?

Nipple reductions are often requested due to long or oversized nipples with the hopes of reshaping or reducing their size. Many people confuse the areola (the darker pigmented skin around the nipple) with the nipple (the projected part of the breast), but nipple correction surgeries can be done in tandem with an areola reduction.

Who is a Good Candidate for Nipple Surgery?

Patients unhappy with the appearance of their nipples, and seeking improvement in size or shape should consider nipple surgery. The procedure can be combined with another breast procedure for comprehensive results, or performed alone if patients experience puffy nipples or are unhappy with nipple projection, but are content with their breasts otherwise.

Nipple surgery can reshape and reduce the nipple and areola. Whether you combine it with another procedure or not this is a low-risk operation that can minimize your discomfort.

Customize Your Nipple Surgery

As with any breast procedure, your nipple surgery can be customized according to your unique needs. Dr. Kayastha will explain in detail the surgical techniques used and the specific steps taken to preserve the important nerves in the area.

Nipple Surgery Customization

Customization

  • Length Reduction

Nipples can be reduced in length for patients who have prominent nipples or nipples long enough to droop.

  • Width Reduction

Nipples that are especially wide and thick– a feature commonly seen on smaller chests– can be reduced as well.

  • Puffiness Reduction

By removing some of the tissue underneath the nipple and areola, puffy nipples caused by hormones or excess fat can be reduced.

  • Areola Reduction

This technique removes some of the pigmented skin of the areola, reducing its size and achieving a better aesthetic balance against the breast.

Nipple Surgery Results

Results are immediate though visibility may be hidden under swelling for a few weeks. Some redness may be apparent at the surgical site, but scarring will be hidden with the pigmentation of the areola as it fades. Puffy or prominent nipples will be flattened significantly for a shapelier appearance.

Recovering from Nipple Surgery

Little bruising, swelling, and tenderness around the incision area are common but will heal quickly. Most patients return to normal activity within a day or two, but recovery can be longer if patients choose to combine their nipple surgery with another breast procedure.

If you undergo nipple surgery by itself, you can return to daily life within a few days with minor swelling and tenderness.

Alternatives to Nipple Surgery

Nipple surgery is often performed in tandem with other breast surgeries– Dr. Kayastha can help you explore your options:
