Radiesse 101: Getting to Know the Dermal Filler

Looking years younger than your actual age can be done without going under the knife. Here at K Plastic Surgery, we offer non-invasive treatments that allow patients to look fresher and more vibrant. Radiesse in Albany is one of the dermal fillers that can give you younger-looking and smoother skin. Before undergoing Radiesse treatments, it is important to know what makes it different from other dermal fillers and how you can benefit.

What Makes Radiesse Different?

Radiesse is an FDA-approved dermal filler used for many of the same purposes as other fillers in New York, but there are a few factors that make this a unique injectable:

Formula

Most dermal fillers like Juvéderm are made from hyaluronic acid. Radiesse differs with a formula made from collagen-stimulating calcium microspheres. More specifically, these microspheres are made from calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), a substance that interacts naturally with the body’s natural tissues. These calcium beads suspended in the Radiesse gel act as scaffolding that lifts the skin to restore volume loss or redefine the contours of the face.

Radiesse injections provide both immediate and gradual results as the CaHA beads stimulate collagen production. Collagen is a natural protein found in the skin that gives it volume and maintains a firm, elastic texture. CaHA is also naturally found in the body, which means the risk of an allergic reaction is significantly reduced. By stimulating natural collagen production, patients can expect long-lasting, beautiful results.

Results

Radiesse offers some of the longest-lasting results from dermal filler injections. This is because new collagen production slows down the aging process and naturally rejuvenates the skin. Results from Radiesse can last up to a year or more for some patients! Recovery and downtime are also minimal (a few days of swelling and bruising) so you can start to enjoy your results immediately after treatment.

Injection Sites

Like other dermal fillers, Radiesse is used to fill in deep facial folds and severe facial wrinkles like nasolabial folds, perioral lines, and forehead lines. It can also improve the appearance of depressed scars caused by acne. by replacing lost volume A unique use for Radiesse treatment is hand rejuvenation. When Radiesse is injected into the hands, thin or creepy tissue is plumped up and the appearance of prominent veins and tendons is eliminated to rejuvenate a more youthful look.
