One of the most obvious places that aging begins to show is in cheeks that become flat or sag. This is caused by a loss of volume that is a natural part of aging because the skin becomes less effective at maintaining its collagen matrix to support the skin. Voluma is an injectable filler from the Juvéderm family that is specifically designed to add volume underneath the cheeks through a deep injection.

What is Juvederm Voluma?
Voluma is made from synthesized hyaluronic acid, which is a substance found in the skin and is responsible for retaining moisture, among other things. This specific formula is made with particles that are larger and last longer than other injectable options so that it can provide volume under the thick skin of the cheek. Most Juvéderm products also contain lidocaine, which is a common anesthetic used by dentists and ophthalmologists. This means the injection is comfortable during and after injection.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR Juvéderm Voluma?
Most patients can benefit from dermal filler treatments, including Voluma. This option is effective at boosting the natural profile and protrusion of the cheeks, which can become lost during the aging process. During a consultation with Dr. Kayastha, he can recommend other treatment options that can augment your results, and he can also discuss whether you may require a surgical procedure to get the results you have in mind. You’ll also discuss your medical history to determine whether any past allergies or reactions might prevent you from candidacy.
Utilizing the same technologies as the traditional Juvederm solution, Juvederm Voluma is specifically designed to target mid-facial concerns such as sunken or sagging cheeks.
What Happens During Your Juvéderm Voluma Treatment?
Injectable treatments usually take up to a half-hour, depending on how many areas you wish to treat. After the treatment area is cleansed and prepared, we can provide a topical numbing cream for your comfort. The injector then places the crystal-clear gel underneath the skin and muscle of the cheek according to your desired results. This can require multiple injections to make sure the product is distributed and the result looks natural. Your injector’s skill and artistic eye can determine this more than any other factor, so you should always receive your injections from licensed and experienced providers.
What Can I Expect After Juvéderm Voluma Treatment?
You’ll see results immediately after treatment, although most patients experience some redness, swelling, or bruising afterward. This goes away within a couple of days, and there is no downtime required with Voluma. This injectable lasts the longest out of the many Juvéderm products, which is up to two years and can be repeated after the injection fades. Be sure to inform your plastic surgeon of your Voluma treatment if you choose to undergo another procedure after your treatment.
Ideal for patients with mild to moderate mid-face skin laxity, Juvederm Voulma can provide benefits similar to a mid-facelift without extensive downtime.
