Four Changes You Can Make Today to Significantly Reduce Wrinkles

Wrinkles are inevitable but there are a lot of factors that slow the development of wrinkles and prevent severe skin sagging. We recommend trying these four lifestyle changes to delay or reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

What Causes Wrinkles?

Natural aging, genetics, sun exposure, and gravity all have a hand in the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and creases. Natural skin aging slows the production of collagen and elastin – two proteins in the skin that give it structure, flexibility, and youthful volume. When collagen production slows down, the skin loses its elasticity and starts to sag and wrinkle. Some people may develop wrinkles more easily because of genetics but other factors like sun exposure and poor diet can speed up the aging process.

How to Prevent Wrinkles

Wrinkles cannot be prevented, but you can limit how severely wrinkles develop. To slow down skin aging and the formation of wrinkles, try these lifestyle changes:

Avoid sun exposure as much as possible.

Chronic exposure to ultraviolet radiation will dry your skin and make it less elastic. With less elastic skin, the greater the chances of wrinkles, folds, and creases appearing prematurely. If sun exposure cannot be avoided, wear a high-quality, broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Get enough sleep.

Sleep is your body’s time for rejuvenation, and seven to eight hours of sleep per day is the amount the body needs. Getting sufficient sleep also helps increase the production of human growth hormone (HCG). An abundant supply of HCG helps make keep your skin more youthful looking.

Be more conscious of what you eat.

What you eat will reflect in the state of your skin. For excellent skin health, a whole-food diet will work to your advantage and sufficient hydration is a must. Oily or sugary foods can clog the pores and worsen skin health.

Seek the services of a skincare professional.

Whether it’s a facelift procedure or Botox, you need to find a provider with the necessary training, experience and finesse in helping you come up with a personalized wrinkle-reduction treatment plan.
