What is Belotero?
Belotero is an injectable filler that uses hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of your skin and is responsible for many important functions, including retaining moisture. Its natural supply in our skin decreases as we age, similar to collagen production— both of which are partly responsible for loss of volume. Injecting dermal fillers into these areas of low volume can temporarily pad out wrinkles and restore the natural contours of the face.
Belotero is one of the lightest dermal fillers available. Other hyaluronic acid fillers include Restylane, Perlane, and Juvéderm, but Belotero differs from other fillers in that it can be injected superficially without risking a bluish discoloration known as the Tyndall effect. It is FDA-approved and proven safe and effective on smile lines, nasolabial folds, and vertical lip lines. Other areas that can be treated include the lips and vermillion border, the chin, marionette lines, and under-eye hollows.
Who is a Candidate for Belotero Treatment?
Most patients can enjoy great results with Belotero treatment, but you should discuss any allergies or history of reactions with Dr. Kayastha during your consultation. You’ll also discuss your other options for your aesthetic goals and whether you might benefit from other treatments as well.
What Happens During Belotero Treatment?
Most patients tolerate Belotero injections well, but your comfort is our highest priority and we can provide a topical numbing cream if needed. The injector then places the product at the treatment site, using an artistic eye to ensure the results look natural and flattering to your unique profile. This can require a few injections, depending on how many treatment areas you opt for. Your treatment can take only around a half hour and doesn’t require any downtime.
What Can I Expect After Treatment?
The results of Belotero treatment are instantaneous. It plumps and volumizes areas where volume has been lost, so you will immediately notice the difference. Belotero can last for 6-9 months before you can repeat the treatment as needed. Most patients experience some swelling, irritation, itching, redness, tenderness, and bruising at the injection site after their treatment, but these typically resolve in a few days.
Your first step in achieving your aesthetic goals with Belotero is scheduling a consultation with Dr. Kayastha, who can assess how you can benefit from a unique treatment plan of non-surgical procedures.
