What will my recovery be like?
After breast reconstruction, patients can expect some discomfort and swelling. Most patients use pain medication for 1-2 weeks following their surgery. The majority of the soreness resolves in 1-2 weeks. During this time, patients typically take work off to rest and recover at home. Normal day to day activities are usually resumed within a week or two. Strenuous exercise is resumed at 5-6 weeks with the okay from your surgeon. Your exact recovery will depend on the type of reconstruction performed.
